Turla Threat Group Uses Email PDF Attachments to Control Stealthy Backdoor

Attackers often use email as a vector for distributing malicious code, but very few threat actors use it as a mechanism for controlling malware on infected systems. One exception is Turla, a highly sophisticated Russian-speaking cyberespionage group that for the past several years has been using PDF files in emails to control an especially stealthy Microsoft Outlook backdoor.
