Intel finally emits Puma 1Gbps modem fixes – just as new ping-of-death bug emerges

More than 18 months after the issue was first brought to light, Intel is still working to fix the problems caused by its buggy Puma modem chipsets. In recent weeks Chipzilla has put out an advisory and a formal CVE entry about CVE-2017-5693, the timeout bug that can leave modems which are running the Puma hardware subject to slow performance and targeted DDoS attacks.
