US exposes scheme enabling North Korean IT workers to bypass sanctions

The US Justice Department had unsealed charges against a US woman and an Ukranian man who, along with three unidentified foreign nationals, have allegedly helped North Korean IT workers work remotely for US companies under assumed US identities and thus evade sanctions. At the same time, the US State Department has announced that its Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program is offering “a reward of up to $5 million for information that leads to the disruption of financial mechanisms of persons engaged in certain activities that support the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK),” as well as for information about the three foreign nationals involved in this scheme.
