Cyberattack disrupts New Jersey township

Operations at the Montclair Township in New Jersey have been disrupted by a cyberattack, which township Communications Director Katya Wowk said was not associated with recent MOVEit attacks, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. No impact has been reported on the township’s voting systems but investigation into the attack’s source and extent, as well as work into restoring impacted systems, are underway, said Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller, adding that threat actors behind similar attacks against other municipalities are suspected to be behind the intrusion.
