Surviving Genesis Market site fails to gain traction amid suspicions

Threat actors have been cautious of the surviving .onion site of major stolen credentials marketplace Genesis Market amid fears of it being under FBI control following the marketplace’s takedown last month, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. Disruption of Genesis Market has also taken a toll on its competitors, with Recorded Future Cybercrime Specialist Alexander Leslie noting that Russian Market has halted new infostealer log listings beginning April 4 although Flashpoint Senior Analyst Andras Toth-Czifra observed that listings have increased by nearly 15% in mid-May than prior to the takedown.
