Cybersecurity Ventures has made a prediction that the cost of global cybercrime will increase at a rate of 15% every year.  This projection means that by the year 2025, the total amount spent as a result of cybercrime is expected to reach a staggering $10.5 trillion USD annually. The reason for the significant increase in the number of cybersecurity patent applications over the past decade is the rise in the importance of cybersecurity.  This trend has been primarily driven by companies located in the United States.
