A November 2022 cyberattack on the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) by the Vice Society ransomware gang forced the university to reconstruct its IT infrastructure, which continues today. During the network breach, the threat actors allegedly stole files from the university, exposing potentially sensitive details about the university’s operations, students, and staff.
