Microsoft president and Chief Legal Officer, Brad Smith delivered a keynote speech during the recent Microsoft Inspire conference in which he said, “GDPR will be important to your business — whether you have offices in Europe or do business with Europeans. Frankly, GDPR will be important to your business even if you’ve only just heard of Europe.” The European Parliament introduced the GDPR to better protect the data of European citizens, meaning all foreign companies that process the data of EU residents are subject to enhanced regulation.
