Two-Thirds of Hotel Sites Leak User Data

Two-thirds of hotel booking sites are leaking customers’ booking reference codes to third parties, potentially exposing their personal data to malicious insiders, according to Norton. The Symantec company’s principal threat researcher, Candid Wueest, claimed 67% of the more than 1500 hotels in 54 countries he tried were affected by this issue, putting data such as name, email and postal address, mobile phone number and passport number at risk.
