Microservices becoming architectural style of choice for application development

Microservices – a software development technique where an application is created by combining numerous smaller services – have evolved from fad to trend, becoming an architectural style of choice for new application development and the migration target for many existing systems, according to O’Reilly. Microservices on the rise The report surveyed 866 software architecture practitioners across North America, Europe and Asia and found that microservices are used in over 50 percent of software projects, with 86 percent of those surveyed saying its use has been at least partially successful.
